Cheesy Beef Stuffed Buns

🧂 Ingredients (Makes 8–10 buns)

🥩 Filling

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp dried oregano

  • 2 tbsp ketchup or tomato sauce

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella (or cheese sticks cut into pieces)


🥐 Dough Option 1 – Store-Bought (Easy)

  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough OR puff pastry sheets

🥐 Dough Option 2 – Homemade Soft Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)

  • 3 tbsp melted butter

  • 1 egg


🥚 Egg Wash

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp milk


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Filling

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned.

  3. Add onion and cook 3–4 minutes until soft.

  4. Stir in garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, oregano.

  5. Mix in ketchup and Worcestershire.

  6. Cook until moisture evaporates.

  7. Let mixture cool slightly.

⚠️ Important: Filling should not be wet or it may leak.


2️⃣ Prepare the Dough

If Using Store-Bought:

  • Roll out dough on lightly floured surface.

  • Cut into 8–10 equal squares.

If Making Homemade:

  1. Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes.

  2. Add egg, butter, salt, and flour.

  3. Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth.

  4. Cover and let rise 1 hour (until doubled).

  5. Divide into 8–10 balls.

  6. Roll each into a 5–6 inch circle.


3️⃣ Assemble the Buns

  1. Place 2 tablespoons beef filling in center.

  2. Add cheese on top (shredded or small block).

  3. Fold edges over filling and pinch tightly to seal.

  4. Place seam-side down on lined baking tray.


4️⃣ Egg Wash & Bake

  1. Mix egg and milk.

  2. Brush tops generously.

  3. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes
    (Until golden brown and shiny.)

Optional: Broil 1–2 minutes for extra color.


🧀 Extra Tips for That Gooey Cheese Pull

  • Use low-moisture mozzarella.

  • Add a small cube of cheese instead of shredded.

  • Don’t overfill.


🌶 Optional Add-Ins

  • Jalapeños

  • Caramelized onions

  • Mushrooms

  • Chili flakes

  • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top before baking


🥶 Make Ahead

  • Assemble and refrigerate up to 24 hours.

  • Or freeze unbaked buns.
