Air Fryer Onions & Mushrooms (Easy, Juicy & Flavorful)

Perfect as a side dish, burger topping, fajita filling, or served over rice, steak, or toast.


🛒 Ingredients

  • 2 cups mushrooms (button, cremini, or sliced portobello)

  • 1 large onion (white, yellow, or red), sliced

  • 1½ tablespoons olive oil

  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 2 fresh garlic cloves, minced)

  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional, for deeper flavor)

  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)


🔪 Preparation

  1. Clean the mushrooms

    • Wipe with a damp paper towel (avoid soaking in water).

    • Slice if not pre-sliced.

  2. Slice the onion

    • Cut into thin strips (not too thin or they may burn).

  3. Season

    • In a large bowl, toss mushrooms and onions with olive oil.

    • Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme.

    • Mix until evenly coated.


🍳 Air Fryer Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.

  2. Spread vegetables in the basket in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).

  3. Air fry for 10–15 minutes, shaking or stirring halfway through.

  4. For extra caramelization, cook an additional 2–3 minutes.

If using balsamic vinegar, drizzle during the last 3 minutes of cooking.

  • Mushrooms are tender and slightly golden

  • Onions are soft and lightly caramelized

  • Edges have a slight crisp


🌟 Flavor Variations
